I
admire bill gates generosity and his passion for philanthropy. Although being
the richest man in the world he does not too high and mighty to land a head.
I
also admire he attitude towards failure where he turns failures into learning
points.
I
was shocked when I discovered that bill gates ripped of ideas from other
people, he need to be more original
I
felt that he made a lot of choices that affect the performance of his product
badly and he did not bother to improve them instead let other people do it
for him.
After going through the huge amount of information
and watching the biography, I realize that Bill Gates has strong autocratic and
delegate styles of leader ship. Although both styles contradict each other,
bill gates uses this styles on separate situations.

Delegate Style
Definition
An
autocratic style of leadership is where the leader makes a decision without
the consent of the subordinates.
A
delegating leadership style is where the leader is willing to turn over responsibility
for decision making and problem solving to the subordinates.
Example
In
the words of Steve Ballmer one of the CEO in Microsoft he states that “Control
is basic to Gate's nature and his management practice. He has an obsession
with detail and with checking up. Exp. Used to sign expenses for his right
hand man”
Bill
gates also tried to monopolies the world wide web software market and restricted
the ability of its internet partner to deals with his rivals.
Lastly
he dislike complaints
Bill
Gates pays special attention when recruiting and retain the best in the
software industry has to offer. He believed that recruitment of talented
software engineers was one of the most critical elements in the software
industry.
He
then delegates them authority to manage and run their independent
departments.

Throughout human history great people with
leadership capability are either born with it or they are made into a leader by
circumstances. Regardless both a natural gifted leader and self-made leaders
are both good in their own right but if we were to analyze deeper into a gifted
leader and a self-made leader we could see that gifted leaders are as good as
they come due to the fact that they did not go through trials and tabulations
of being a inexperience leader however this is only partly true as some gifted
leaders are born in a sense that power, respect and authority are not served to
them on a silver platter which shows that they did worked for their statues. If
you’re wondering “wait this sounds more like a self-made leader.” Yes you are
right this indeed sound like a self-made leader however being gifted is one thing,
working for your subordinates’ respect is another. What I’m trying to say here
is that, leaders regardless of how gifted he or she may be cannot be a true
leader as they never started from rock bottom and rise through the rank whereas
a self-made leader worked from the bottom up and therefore he can relate to his
subordinates better which in turn earn their respects. A good king does not force
people to bow to him; a good inspires the people to stand with him. In a nut shell,
a good leader is a person who can earn the love and respect of their subordinates.
